Episode 69 - September 1, 2021
Dark Starts backcountry splitboarding podcast presents Max Holzman, founder of MTN Local Snowboards.
Grew up in NYC, skating and rocking out enjoying all the culture and life the city had to offer until his family moved to northern Massachusetts near the mountains, where he fell in love with snowboarding.
Moved to Vermont with his wife and started at Burton in the warranty division where their equipment failure feedback improved the quality of future board and gear design.
Started building boards for fun and went all in he discovered that the boards he was making were serious shredders, so he started MTN Local Snowboards to share them with the world.
We finally made it to episode 69 (snicker)! Max is an East Coast local who lives and rides in the Vermont Appalachians. With almost a decade of working with Burton under his belt, he gained insight into what worked and what didn’t. He used that knowledge to create his own custom boards and shared with us the differences that make them float effortlessly in deep powder. We are itching to get our hands on some for a test drive!
